Man Charged After Melbourne NW Firearms Incidents

Officers from Fawkner Divisional Response Unit charged a man following two firearms incidents in Melbourne's north-west this week.

It is alleged the man discharged a firearm from inside a vehicle on East Street in Hadfield on 10 August about 9.30pm.

No one was injured during the incident.

It is alleged the same vehicle was involved in a road rage incident where a firearm was pointed towards the victim on Mahoneys Road in Campbellfield on 11 August about 7.30pm.

Yesterday, officers executed a search warrant at a property in Lalor and located an array of items including firearms and drugs.

The victim was not physically injured.

A 19-year-old man was taken into custody and has since been charged with:

  • possess a traffickable quantity of firearms
  • possess unregistered general category handgun (x4)
  • possess loaded firearm in a public place (x2)
  • use a loaded firearm in a public place
  • possess cartridge ammunition without license or permit
  • reckless conduct endanger life
  • armed with firearm with criminal intent
  • possess prohibited weapon without exemption/approval
  • traffick cocaine
  • possess cocaine
  • possess cannabis
  • handle/receive/retention of stolen goods
  • drive whilst authorisation suspended

He was remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court today.
