Man Charged After Port Macquarie Assault Probe

A man has been charged following an investigation into an alleged assault at Port Macquarie late last year.

About 10.20pm on Wednesday 12 November 2025, emergency services were called to the corner of Buller and Hollingsworth Street, Port Macquarie, following reports of an assault.

Inquiries revealed that a man was walking along Buller Street when the occupants of a passing car allegedly began to throw objects at him.

An argument ensued between the man and the occupants of the vehicle, before he was allegedly assaulted by a man who had exited the vehicle.

The man left in the vehicle a short time later and emergency services were called to the scene.

The 45-year-old man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Port Macquarie Base Hospital.

He was later transported to the Sydney Eye Hospital for further treatment of head and facial injuries. He has since been discharged.

A crime scene was established and inquiries into the incident commenced by officers attached to Mid North Coast Police District.

Following extensive inquiries, police arrested a 45-year-old man at Moree Police Station yesterday (Thursday 15 May 2026).

He was charged with reckless grievous bodily harm.

The man was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 5 yesterday (Thursday 15 May 2026), where he was granted strict conditional bail to appear before Port Macquarie Local Court on Wednesday 27 May 2026.
