Man Charged After St Marys Home Invasion Shooting

A man will face court today after shots were allegedly fired during a home invasion in Sydney's west last week.

Just after 11.40pm on Sunday (8 February 2026), police were called to a home on Marsden Street, St Marys, following reports of a home invasion.

Officers attached to Nepean Police Area Command were told three unknown men allegedly forced entry into the home before discharging a firearm, threatening the occupants and stealing a handbag and jewellery.

The men left prior to police arrival; however, whilst responding police located a sedan travelling on Saddington Street.

A short time later, police located the vehicle crashed into a fence on the same street, where occupants ran from the vehicle.

During a search of the vehicle, police located and seized ammunition.

Following inquiries, police arrested one of the occupants - a 45-year-old man - at a unit complex nearby.

He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for injuries believed to be due to the crash and taken to Nepean Hospital under police guard.

The occupants of the Marsden Street home were not injured.

Yesterday (Monday 9 February 2026), the man was released from the hospital and subsequently taken to Penrith Police Station where he was charged with take and drive conveyance without consent of owner. He was also charged with common assault over an unrelated matter.

He was refused bail to appear at Penrith Local Court today (Tuesday 10 February 2026).

Inquiries continue.
