Man charged after stealing delivery truck in Richmond

A man has been charged after he allegedly stole a delivery truck in Pennant Hills yesterday afternoon, NSW Police say.

About 5pm (Tuesday 16 January 2018), a driver parked his van in Yarrara Road to make a delivery. The man walked a short distance from the van when he allegedly noticed a man enter the vehicle and drive off.

The owner was able to track the van to the Hawkesbury area using a GPS device, and alerted police.

About 7.20pm, police attached to the Hawkesbury Local Area Command were patrolling the vicinity of Castlereagh Road, Hobartville, when they noticed a similar van. Police followed the van into Francis Street, Richmond where the vehicle came to a stop.

The 32-year-old Woolloomooloo man was arrested and taken to Windsor Police Station. He was charged with take and drive conveyance without consent of owner and drive while disqualified.

He was refused bail to appear in Penrith Local Court today (Wednesday 17 January 2018).
