Man charged after unauthorised firearms located by Raptor South during FPO search, NSW

A man will face court today after being charged with drug and firearms offences relating to items seized during a search of an Illawarra home, NSW Police say.

Just after 1.30pm yesterday (Monday 29 October 2018), officers from Strike Force Raptor South served a Firearms Prohibition Order (FPO) and a Weapons Prohibition Order (WPO) on a 24-year-old man.

An FPO search was subsequently conducted at a home on Lake Avenue, Cringila, where they located and seized a shortened .22 calibre rifle and ammunition, an air rifle, a gel-ball pistol, and 50g of cannabis.

The man was arrested and taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station, where he was charged with possess shortened firearm, possess unauthorised pistol, possess unauthorised firearm, not store firearm safely, possess ammunition, and possess prohibited drug.

He has been refused bail to appear at Wollongong Local Court today (Tuesday 30 October 2018).

Inquiries are continuing.
