A man will appear in court today charged with 18 firearm, domestic violence, assault police and police pursuit offences in the state's south.
About 12.05pm on Thursday 14 May 2026, officers attached to the Southern Region Domestic Violence High Risk Offenders team attended a home in Elder Crescent, Nowra, during Operation Amarok XIII.
Officers searched the back shed where they allegedly seized a firearm stock, firearm mechanism , six 12-gauge shotgun rounds and spent 12-gauge shotgun rounds.
No one was home at the time.
Following inquiries, about 12:15pm yesterday ( Tuesday 19 May 2026), officers attached to South Coast Police District sighted the 30-year-old man from the address, driving a utility on Coller Road, Ulladulla.
Police directed the driver to stop; however, when he allegedly failed to do so, a pursuit was initiated.
The car allegedly travelled south on the Princes Highway, and mounted the footpath, before the pursuit was terminated due to safety concerns.
A short time later the car was located on Wyoming Avenue, Burill Lake.
The driver allegedly reversed into a police vehicle, trying to evade police, before he was arrested.
Police will allege he resisted arrest and spat at officers. He was taken to Nowra Police Station and charged with 18 offences;
- Acquire firearm part without authority to do so
- Acquire ammunition for firearm without licence
- Contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (Domestic) (2 counts)
- Steal motor vehicle
- Police pursuit - not stop - drive recklessly
- Enter enclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse
- Use etc offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention
- Hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty
- Assault police officer in execution of duty without actual bodily harm (3 counts)
- Custody of knife in public place
- Commit s114 offence, having previous conviction
- Possess prohibited drug
He was refused bail to appear in Bail Division Court 3 today ( Wednesday 20 May 2026).
