Man charged following burglaries and thefts in north-west suburbs

Police have charged a man following a series of alleged incidents in the north west suburbs over the last two months., Victoria Police say

Police arrested a 26-year-old man on Coburns Road, Melton yesterday and have charged him following a number of incidents including:

- An alleged burglary on Yuille Street, Melton which occurred overnight between Wednesday 10 August and Thursday 11 August where a Toyota Rav4 was stolen.

- An alleged theft of a tandem trailer at Mantura Avenue, Taylors Lakes on Thursday 11 August.

- An alleged theft following a collision on Melton Highway, Melton on Monday 5 September about 6.30pm where it is believed the victim suffered from a medical condition and died at the scene.

- An alleged burglary on Geelong-Bacchus Marsh Road, Balliang East on Tuesday 6 September between midnight and 1pm. It is believed a red and gold 1930’s money box containing cash and a Makita drop saw had been stolen.

The man, of no fixed address, has been charged with theft of motor vehicle, theft, theft from motor vehicle, commit an indictable offence whilst on bail, possess methylamphetamine, burglary and a number of traffic-related offences.

He will be presented to appear at Sunshine Magistrates’ Court this afternoon.
