Yarra Ranges Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following an alleged kidnapping in Wantirna this morning, Victoria Police say.
It is alleged a man was kidnapped from a residential property in Wantirna just after 12.30am this morning.
He was subsequently taken to a smash repairs factory in Lilydale where the offenders demanded he give them a car under repair at the factory.
The victim was not injured and managed to flee the scene.
It is believed parties involved are known to each other.
A Yarra Junction man, has been charged with kidnapping, unlawful imprisonment, common law assault and commit offence whilst on bail.
He has been remanded in custody to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.
The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
