Man Charged for Griffith Graffiti Spree

A man has been charged with fourteen graffiti-related offences in the state's south.

Between 10.30pm on Monday 14 April 2026 and 2.10am on Tuesday 15 April 2026, a number of businesses and public infrastructure along Banna Avenue, Railway Street and Jondaryan Avenue, Griffith - including the exterior wall of the Griffith War Memorial Museum building, on Banna Avenue – were graffitied or damaged.

Police will also allege a vehicle parked in a carpark on Jondaryan Avenue, and a shop front on Yambil Street, Griffith, were damaged.

Following the reports, officers attached to Murrumbidgee Police District commenced inquiries into the incidents.

About 7.30pm on Tuesday 14 April 2026, police were patrolling Banna Avenue, Griffith, when they located a 30-year-old man.

Police searched the man allegedly seizing a small amount of cannabis and a spray paint can. He was arrested and taken to Griffith Police Station.

He was charged with 19 offences - 14 counts of intentionally mark premises etc without prescribed consent, two counts of destroy or damage property greater than $ 2000 and less than $5000, contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (domestic), possess graffiti implement with intent to contravene s 4(2) and possess prohibited drug.

The man was refused bail to appear in Griffith Local Court on Wednesday 24 April 2026.
