Man Charged in Auburn Murder, Attempted Murder Probe Ongoing

Homicide Squad detectives have charged a man as part of an ongoing investigation into a fatal shooting in Sydney's south west earlier this year.

Emergency services were called to a business on Parramatta Road, Auburn, just after 8pm on Tuesday 10 May 2022, after reports of a shooting.

Two men, aged 39 and 41, were found suffering gunshot wounds and treated by police until the arrival of NSW Ambulance paramedics.

Despite the efforts of emergency services, the younger man died at the scene. The older man was taken to hospital, received treatment and has since been discharged.

Two Audi Q7 vehicles were located on fire at Berala and Greenacre a short time later. Multiple crime scenes were established and examined by specialist forensic officers.

The matter was initially investigated by detectives from the State Crime Command's Homicide Squad under Strike Force Leary.

The investigation subsequently formed part of ongoing inquiries by Task Force Erebus into several fatal shootings and criminal activities by organised crime networks across Sydney.

Following inquiries, detectives arrested a 22-year-old man at Sydney Domestic terminal about 10.30pm yesterday (Saturday 24 December 2022).

He was taken to Mascot Police Station and charged with concealing a serious indictable offence.

The man was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Bail Court today (Sunday 25 December 2022).

Investigations under Task Force Erebus are continuing.
