Man Charged in Coonamble Break-In

A man will face court today charged following an alleged aggravated break and enter in the state's central west.

About 5am yesterday (Thursday 12 February 2026), officers attached to Orana Mid Western Police District were called to a home on Wingadee Street, Coonamble, with reports of a man armed with a knife.

Police were told the man was holding a large knife when he forced entry into the home via the back door, before chasing the resident - a man in his 40s - outside the home and inflicting a minor cut on the resident's finger. The unknown man then departed on a bicycle.

Following extensive inquiries, about 12.10am today (Friday 13 February 2026), officers located a 23-year-old man on Limerick Street, Coonamble, who fled on foot before being arrested by police.

He was taken to Coonamble Police Station where he was charged with aggravated enter dwelling with intent - armed, armed with intent to commit indictable offence, and stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm (personal).

He was refused bail to face Bail Division Court 4 today (Friday 13 February 2026).
