Man Charged in Fatal Caulfield South Scooter Crash

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following a fatal collision in Caulfield South last year which claimed the life of an elderly man.

It is alleged a car collided with a man on a mobility scooter on the pedestrian crossing at the intersection of Kooyong Road and Glen Huntly Road on Sunday, 17 April 2022.

Emergency services were called to the scene about 9.25am and the 87-year-old Caulfield South man on the mobility wheelchair was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

He died as a result of his injuries on Wednesday, 20 April.

The driver of the car, a 23-year-old Kalkallo man, stopped at the scene.

He has today been charged with dangerous driving causing death, careless driving and fail to give way to a pedestrian on a pedestrian crossing.

He's been bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court on Monday, 27 February.
