Man Charged in Melrose Park Road Rage Assault

A man will face court charged over an alleged assault and road rage in Sydney's northwest earlier this week.

About 5pm on Monday 3 November 2025, emergency services were called to Hope Street, Melrose Park following reports of an alleged assault and road rage incident.

Officers attached to Ryde Police Area Command attended and were told a 26-year-old man was allegedly kicked by a man – who is unknown to him - while he sat on some stairs following an argument.

A short time later the man has left the scene in a vehicle.

The 26-year-old man attempted to stop the driver from leaving, however the driver is alleged to have driven towards the man causing him to fall onto the bonnet of the car.

The vehicle drove onto Waratah Street before turning onto Hope Street with the 26-year-old man on the bonnet.

A short time later the vehicle stopped on Hope Street before the driver – an 81-year-old man – allegedly exited the vehicle and assaulted the man.

There were no reports of injuries.

Police commenced an investigation into the incident and following inquiries the 81-year-old man was today (Wednesday 5 November 2025) charged with common assault and drive recklessly / furiously or speed / manner dangerous.

He was issued a court attendance notice to appear before Burwood Local Court on Monday 22 December 2025.
