Man Charged in Uralla Knife Attack

A man has been charged after he allegedly assaulted two women and threatened a man with a knife in the states New England region yesterday.

On Sunday 22 June 2025, officers attached to New England Police District commenced an investigation following multiple reports of alleged stabbing and assault.

  • About 9.40am on Sunday 22 June 2025, emergency services were called to John Street, Uralla, following reports of a 33-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed. Police were told a man assaulted her with a knife before leaving in a Holden sedan. She was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Armidale Hospital in a stable condition.

  • A short time later, police were called to a home Rowan Avenue, Uralla, following reports of a 23-year-old man was threatened by another man with a knife. Police were told the man left the scene in the Holden after he failed to enter the premises.
  • About 11am the same day, police were called to a home on Noalimba Avenue, Kentucky, following reports a 22-year-old woman had been stabbed. Police were told she was allegedly assaulted with a knife by a man outside the home. She was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics with lacerations to her hand and mouth before being taken to Armidale Hospital for further treatment.

Inquiries alleged the three incidents are linked.

Officers attached to New England Police District – with assistance from Traffic and Highway Patrol Command and PolAir – commenced an operation to locate the man.

Following inquiries, about 12.35pm on the same day, police attended a home on East Street, Uralla, where they arrested a 33-year-old man allegedly hiding in a children's cubby house.

During the arrest police also located and seized a knife from the cubby house and a Holden sedan parked nearby.

He was taken to Armidale Police Station where he was charged with specially aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence-wound, armed with intent to commit indictable offence, attempt stalk/intimidate intend fear of harm, reckless wounding, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

He was refused bail to appear at Armidale Local Court today (Monday 23 June 2025).
