A man has been charged as part of ongoing Serious Crime Prevention Order compliance operations under Strike Force Vidar.
Strike Force Vidar was established in March 2020 by detectives from State Crime Command's Criminal Groups Squad to investigate the activities of criminal networks across NSW.
On Wednesday 31 May 2023, the NSW Supreme Court granted a Serious Crime Prevention Order (SCPO) be served on a 39-year-old man, following an application by strike force detectives in March.
An SCPO can contain such prohibitions, restrictions, requirements and other provisions as the court considers appropriate for the purpose of protecting the public by preventing, restricting or disrupting involvement by a person in serious crime related activities.
Following inquiries, about 6.30am today (Wednesday 1 November 2023), strike force detectives – with assistance from Central Metropolitan Region's Operation Support Group ODIN – executed a search warrant at an address in Pyrmont where they arrested a 39-year-old man.
The man was taken to Day Street Police Station, where he was charged with five counts of contravening his SCPO.
He was refused bail and appeared before Downing Centre Local Court today.
Police will allege in court the man breached his SCPO by using a false name and failing to disclose information about his use of bank accounts and motor vehicles.
