Man Charged Over Drone Delivery Attempt at Nowra Prison

A man has been charged after allegedly attempting to use a drone to deliver contraband into a correctional facility in the state's south yesterday.

About 11.40am (Saturday 10 October 2026), officers attached to South Coast Police District were called to a correctional facility in South Nowra, following reports of a drone flying in a prohibited airspace.

Police were told a drone had allegedly dropped a package into the correctional facility before it was seized by correctional officers.

During a search of the package, police allegedly located and seized an amount of methylamphetamine and other contraband items.

Following inquiries, later that day (Saturday 10 October 2026), officers arrested a 35-year-old man on Warra Warra Road, South Nowra.

He was taken to Nowra Police Station where he was charged with,

  • Supply prohibited drug greater than indictable and less than commercial quantity
  • Bring prohibited drug/plant into place of detention
  • Bring/attempt to introduce syringe into place of detention, and
  • Recklessly deal with proceeds of crime less than or equal to $5,000.

He was granted conditional bail to appear before Nowra Local Court on Tuesday 20 October 2026.
