Man Charged Over East Melbourne Aggravated Burglaries

Melbourne Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following a series of alleged aggravated burglaries Sunday evening.

It is alleged the man gained entry to four homes in Gipps and Hotham streets around 5.30pm and made off with various personal items including passports, wallets and cash.

The man was arrested on Hotham Street by attending officers after one of the victims confronted the offender in their home and walked him out.

The 31-year-old man was interviewed by police and has been charged with a range of offences including aggravated burglary, burglary, handle stolen goods, possess drug of dependence and bail related offences.

The stolen property was recovered and returned to the victims.

The Williams Landing man has been held over to appear before Melbourne Magistrates' Court today.
