Man charged over sexual and indecent assaults of teenage boy, NSW

A man has been charged following an investigation into the sexual assault of a teenage boy in Sydney’s Inner West last year, NSW Police say.

Detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad commenced an investigation last month after receiving reports a teenage boy had been sexually assaulted in 2017 by a man he met online.

Following extensive investigations, detectives arrested a 49-year-old man at a correctional facility at South Nowra about 9.30am yesterday (Wednesday 28 November 2018).

He was charged by way of a Future Court Attendance Notice for four counts of aggravated sexual assault – victim under the age of 16 and three counts of indecent assault person under 16 years of age.

Police will allege in court that the pair met after the 14-year-old boy responded to an online advertisement posted by the man, who then sexually and indecently assaulted the boy on a number of occasions at a Dulwich Hill home in October and November 2017.

The man remains in custody to appear at Nowra Local Court on Monday 21 January 2019.

The Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad is comprised of detectives who are specially trained to investigate matters against children and adults, including sexual assault, serious physical abuse, and extreme cases of neglect.

Anyone with concerns about suspected child abuse or exploitation should call Crime Stoppers.
