Man Charged with Affray, Weapon Use After Rosebery Brawl

Raptor Squad officers have charged a man following an alleged affray in Sydney's east earlier this week.

Police had been told a group of men were gathered outside a unit complex in Rosebery about 7.20pm last Sunday 15 January 2023, before two men – aged 30 and 33 – became involved in an argument.

A short time later, the older man was restrained by other members of the group, while the younger man left the scene on foot.

Officers attached to the State Crime Command's Raptor Squad were notified on Tuesday (17 January 2023), and commenced an investigation into the incident.

Following inquiries, Raptor Squad officers executed a search warrant at a unit in Rosebery, where they arrested a 33-year-old man about 6.30am today (Friday 20 January 2023).

The man was taken to Mascot Police Station and charged with affray, use offensive weapon with intent to commit indictable offence, and a breach of bail offence.

He was refused bail to appear at Downing Centre Local Court later today.
