Man charged with attempted murder over Prairiewood shooting, NSW

A man has been charged with attempted murder following a shooting in Sydney’s south-west in 2016, NSW Police say.

Detectives from the State Crime Command’s Criminal Groups Squad and Fairfield Local Area Command established Strike Force Barcom to investigate the shooting which occurred on Nugent Place, Prairiewood, about 10.20pm on Thursday 28 July 2016.

A 24-year-old man was shot in the back after being approached from behind.

The man suffered serious spinal injuries and spent a considerable period of time in hospital.

Following extensive investigations, a 26-year-old man was arrested on Chisolm Street, Wooli Creek, about 12.20pm last Friday (12 January 2018).

Following a search of his vehicle, police located and seized cannabis and cash.

The man was taken to St George Police Station and charged with shoot at with intent to murder and possess prohibited drug.

He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court last Saturday (13 January 2018) where he was bail refused again to reappear at Campbelltown Local Court tomorrow (Wednesday 17 January 2018).

Police are urging anyone with information that may assist Strike Force Barcom investigators to call Crime Stoppers.
