Man charged with commercial drug supply in Tamworth

A man will face court today charged with large commercial supply of prohibited drugs in the state’s north, NSW Police say.

Detectives attached to Oxley Local Area Command established Strike Force Delaney to investigate the ongoing supply of prohibited drugs in the Tamworth area.

Following extensive inquiries, strike force investigators executed two simultaneous search warrants at homes in East Tamworth and Woolomin about 3.30pm on Sunday 10 September 2017.

During the searches, police seized a white crystal substance, believed to be methylamphetamine, mobile phones, a tablet, cash, drug paraphernalia and a motorbike.

A 32-year-old man was intercepted by police at Caves Beach, just before 3pm. Officers searched the vehicle and allegedly located more than $30,000 cash and a crystal substance believed to be methamphetamine.

He was arrested and taken to Belmont Police Station where he was charged with supply prohibited drug (large commercial quantity), eleven counts of supply prohibited drug (indictable quantity), two counts of supply prohibited drug (trafficable quantity), supply firearm to person unauthorised to possess, acquire firearm without licence or permit-pistol and knowingly deal with proceeds of crime.

The man was refused bail and is due to appear at Newcastle Local Court today.

Investigations are ongoing.
