A woman will appear in court charged with traffic and assault matters after a crash on Sydney's North Shore.
About 12.20pm yesterday (Saturday 8 August 2026), it will be alleged that a white Audi Q5 crashed into a bus shelter on Longueville Road, Lane Cove, causing about half a dozen people waiting at the location to move clear of the vehicle. An 18-year-old man year old man suffered minor injuries.
It will be further alleged that the 29-year-old female driver ran from the scene - without exchanging particulars with the injured man – along Phoenix Street where she attempted to enter a parked white Mercedes.
When the 34-year-old male owner of the Mercedes intervened it will be alleged he was were assaulted by the female who also damaged the Mercedes.
Police will also allege that the woman ran from the location and entered a second vehicle – a grey BYD - that was parked on Little Street.
Officers from North Shore Police Area Command arrived at the scene where she was placed under arrest.
It will be alleged the woman resisted arrest and attempted to assault officers and also refused to submit to a breath test.
Under police guard NSW Ambulance paramedics conveyed the woman to Royal North Short Hospital for assessment as well as for mandatory testing where police are awaiting the results.
Inquiries established that her driver's licence had been disqualified in May 2026 for a period of five years.
The woman was later taken to Chatswood Police Station and charged with 11 offences including:
- Drive motor vehicle during disqualification period
- Negligent driving
- Not give particulars to owner of damaged property
- Not give particulars to injured person
- Common assault
- Destroy or damage property > $2000 & <= $5000
- Enter vehicle or boat without consent of owner/occupier
- Refuse or fail to submit to breath test
- Hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty
- Assault police officer in execution of duty without ABH
- Responsible person/custodian not disclose driver's details
She was refused bail to appear at Bail Division Court 10 later today (Sunday 9 August 2026).
There were no reports of any serious injuries.
