Man Charged with Drug Supply After Vehicle Stop

A man will face court today, charged with commercial drug supply following a vehicle stop in the state's south yesterday.

About 11.30am (Wednesday 7 June 2023), officers attached to the Hume Police District's Traffic and Highway Patrol Command were patrolling the Hume Highway, Sutton Forest, when they observed a Mazda 6 sedan bearing registration that had allegedly expired.

Police directed the vehicle to pull over and spoke with the driver, a 36-year-old man.

A search of the boot of the sedan allegedly revealed a suitcase containing almost 5.5kg of MDMA. The estimated potential street value of the drug is more than $700,000.

The driver was arrested and taken to Southern Highlands Police Station where he was charged with one count of supply prohibited drug – large commercial quantity – serious indictable offence, and one count of possess prohibited drug.

The Moorebank man was refused bail to appear in Picton Local Court today (Thursday 8 June 2023).
