Man charged with firearm and drug offences in Homebush

A man will appear in court today after being arrested and charged yesterday at Homebush with several firearms and drug offences, NSW Police say.

Just before 7.30am on Friday 4 November 2016, officers attached to the Public Order and Riot Squad (PORS) observed a white Toyota Corolla parked in the breakdown lane of the M4 Motorway.

Officers spoke with the 43-year-old male occupant, a former OMCG member and he was subsequently searched.

Police will allege that during that search they located a loaded.32 calibre semi-automatic handgun secreted on the man and a quantity of methyl-amphetamine in his wallet.

After the man was arrested a further search of the vehicle by officers located two spent casings and a live .32 calibre round.

The man was conveyed to Auburn Police Station and interviewed by investigators from Strike Force Raptor.

He was later charged with fire firearm in or near public place, possess loaded firearm in public place, possess unauthorised pistol, possess prohibited drug, not keep firearm safely, self administer prohibited drug and possess ammunition without holding a licence.

He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court tomorrow.
