Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU Singapore) has risen three spots in this year's Times Higher Education World University Rankings to 28th place, following improvements in all the ranking's performance indicators.
The University now places in the top 30 of three major global ranking indices: Times Higher Education, Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) and U.S. News & World Report. It is ranked 12th in the latest QS World University Rankings and 27th in this year's U.S. News & World Report Best Global Universities list.
In this year's Times Higher Education ranking, NTU improved in teaching, research environment, research quality and international outlook, while maintaining its full score for industry knowledge transfer. The largest gains were in teaching reputation and research reputation.
NTU Deputy President and Provost Professor Christian Wolfrum said: "NTU now ranks in the global top 30 across all three major university rankings: Times Higher Education, Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) and U.S. News & World Report. This is the result of consistent work to raise the quality of our faculty, strengthen our research output and build partnerships with leading institutions worldwide. We are taking this further by embedding artificial intelligence (AI) across all undergraduate programmes from this academic year and deepening research collaborations in areas where NTU can make a distinctive contribution."
The ranking result comes as NTU implements NTU2030, its five-year strategic plan. A central element of the plan is the integration of AI across the undergraduate curriculum, with the University aiming to embed AI into 40 per cent of courses across all 52 undergraduate degree programmes by 2030.
The Times Higher Education World University Rankings assess research-intensive universities across five areas: teaching, research environment, research quality, industry and international outlook. This year's rankings include 2,297 institutions across 118 countries and territories.
