A man will appear in court today charged with multiple break and enter offences in the state's Riverina.
Between Friday 20 March 2026 and Tuesday 24 March 2026, a number of break, enter and steal offences were reported at homes within Tumut.
During the alleged break and enters a number of items were stolen including car keys and clothing.
On Friday 17 April 2026, a business was allegedly broken into on Richmond Street, Tumut.
During that incident, jewellery and car keys were allegedly stolen.
The estimated value of all items stolen is $4000.00
Officers attached to Riverina Police District responded and established a crime scene, before commencing investigations.
About 11am yesterday (Monday 20 April 2026), a 21-year-old man was arrested at a home on Simpson Street, Tumut.
During the arrest, police seized an Audi car key, which officers will allege was stolen.
The 21-year-old was taken to Tumut Police Station and charged with aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence, goods in personal custody suspected being stolen, break and enter house etc steal value less than or equal to $60,000 (two counts), destroy or damage property less than or equal to $2000.
He was refused bail to appear in Bail Division Court 5 today ( Tuesday 21 April 2026).
