Man charged with sexual assault in Rockdale

Police have arrested and charged a man in relation to the sexual assault of a woman in Sydney’s south last week, NSW Police say.

Shortly after 12.30am on Monday 20 March 2017, a woman had left Rockdale Railway Station and was walking along King Street, Rockdale, when she was grabbed from behind.

The woman told police a man sexually assaulted her then ran east along King Street.

Police have conducted extensive investigations since then and attended a home at Brighton Le Sands about 1.20pm today.

A 42-year-old man was arrested as he arrived at the location by car and was taken to St George Police Station.

He was charged with sexual assault and refused bail to appear at Sutherland Local Court tomorrow.

Inquiries are continuing.
