Man Charged With Terrorism After Phone Seizure

A man has been charged with alleged terrorism offences after phones were seized during a vehicle stop in Sydney's south west.

On Wednesday 31 December 2025, officers attached to State Crime Command's Raptor Squad Traffic & Highway Patrol were patrolling the Yagoona area when they stopped a Toyota sedan on Dargan Street, Yagoona.

Officers searched the vehicle and allegedly seized an amount of drugs, cash and three mobile phones.

A 31-year-old man was arrested and taken to Bankstown Police Station and charged with supply prohibited drug greater than small & less than indictable quantity, recklessly deal with proceeds of crime less than $5000 and use light vehicle not comply with standard - other.

He was refused bail and faced Bail Division Local Court 7 on Thursday 1 January 2026, where he was granted conditional bail.

As inquiries continued, officers - with assistance from Counter Terrorism & Special Tactics Command - examined the three mobile phones seized during the arrest and allegedly found violent extremist material stored on a device.

About 6am yesterday (Wednesday 18 February 2026) officers attached to Raptor Squad Traffic & Highway Patrol - with assistance from Raptor Squad's Operational Support Group - executed a commonwealth warrant at a home in Bass Hill.

During the search, police allegedly seized multiple mobile phones and storage devices, as well as a knife.

A 31-year-old man was arrested and taken to Bankstown Police Station where he was charged with use carriage service-possess violent extremist material and possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit.

He was refused bail and appeared at Bankstown Local Court yesterday (Wednesday 18 February 2026), where he was granted conditional bail to appear at Bankstown Local Court on Tuesday 3 March 2026.
