Man charged with theft and identification offences, NSW

A man has been charged with multiple offences after allegedly being found in possession of hundreds of identification documents and stolen goods at his Woolloomooloo premises yesterday. , NSW Police say

On Saturday 16 December 2017, a man stopped at a service station on New South Head Road, Edgecliff, for fuel. As he entered the store to pay a bag was stolen from the front seat of his car.

That bag contained cash, credit cards, a passport and other personal belongings.

About 11.50am (Saturday 16 December 2017), one of the credit cards was used online to purchase an item totalling $2010.

The theft and use of the credit was reported to police at Kings Cross Local Area Command.

On Monday 18 December 2017, detectives executed a search warrant at a home on Palmer Street, Woolloomooloo.

Officers will allege they located property allegedly stolen from the bag at the service station, along with hundreds of identification documents, an amount of drugs, power tools and electronic equipment believed to be stolen.

A 30-year-old man was arrested and taken to Kings Cross Police Station where he was charged with larceny >$15000, goods in custody suspected of being stolen, and posses identity information to commit indictable offence.

He was refused bail and will appear in Central Local Court today (Tuesday 19 December 2017).
