Man Charged With Trafficking After Midnight Stop

Drugs, weapons and cash were seized after a man tried to flee from police at Ascot Park overnight.

Just before midnight Sunday 1 March, police were patrolling along Wood Street when they spotted two people riding push bikes without lights. When police signalled for them to stop, it's alleged that the men split and rode off in different directions.

Officers pursued one of the men who was quickly arrested on South Road. When police searched the rider, it's alleged they uncovered 61 grams of methamphetamine, 201 grams of cannabis, 30 suboxone strips, $1950 cash and several stolen bank cards. Further checks revealed that the man was also wanted for several high value thefts.

Police subsequently attended the man's home and conducted a search where they allegedly located and seized an extendable baton, cannabis, methamphetamine and drug related equipment. A woman present at the address was interviewed and will face court at a later date relating to the seizure.

The 28-year-old man from Glandore was charged with multiple counts of trafficking a controlled drug, failing to stop for police, unlawful possession and traffic offences. He was refused bail and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court later today (Monday 2 March).
