A man will face court today charged with alleged firearms and weapons offences following a joint investigation by the NSW Police Force and Australian Border Force.
Strike Force Nuvic was established to investigate the alleged attempted importation of a firearm, antisemitic literature, and a flag depicting hate symbols.
About 7am yesterday (Wednesday 20 May 2026), detectives attached to Brisbane Water Police District- assisted by Northern Region OSG, Australian Border Force and Fire Rescue NSW - executed a search warrant at a home in Green Point.
During the search, officers allegedly located and seized several firearms, ammunition, weapons, literature, flags depicting hate symbols and other items of interest.
A 39-year-old man was arrested and taken to Gosford Police Station, where he was charged with 29 offences,
- Possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit (12 counts)
- Possess unregistered firearm-pistol (two counts)
- Possess shortened firearm (not pistol) without authority (two counts)
- Possess greater than 3 unregistered firearms, 1 is prohibited/pistol
- Possess unregistered firearm-prohibited firearm
- Not keep firearm safely-prohibited firearm (three counts)
- Not keep firearm safely-pistol (two counts)
- Intentionally import prohibited tier 1 goods without approval (two counts)
- Intentionally import prohibited tier 2 goods without approval
- Manufacture prohibited firearm without licence/permit
- Handle explosive/precursor without authorising licence, and
- Holder of Category A or B licence not have approved storage.
The man was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 6 today (Thursday 21 May 2026).
