Man dies after collision between bus and truck at Dubbo

A man has died after a truck and bus collided in the state's Orana region.

About 7.40am yesterday (Tuesday 8 October 2019), emergency services responded to reports a truck and a bus had collided on the Peak Hill Road, approximately 10km south of Dubbo.

The bus was travelling north on the Newell Highway towards Dubbo when the collision occurred with an oncoming truck carrying gravel.

The driver of the bus, a Victorian man aged 36, died at the scene.

The second occupant of the bus, a man aged 44, and the male truck driver, aged 69, were taken to Dubbo Base Hospital for treatment to non-life-threatening injuries.

A crime scene was established and the Newell Highway remained closed in both directions for the majority of the day as Police Forensic Officers investigated the incident.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
