Man Dies After Collision With Road Train At Armidale

A man has died after a two-vehicle crash in the state's New England region earlier this month.

About 5.20am on Sunday 2 August 2026, officers attached to New England Police District were travelling on the New England Highway near Armidale when they located a two-vehicle crash at Endeavour Drive.

Police saw a Kenworth road train and a Mazda sedan had collided at a roundabout.

NSW Ambulance paramedics attended and treated the driver of the car – a 67-year-old man – before he was taken to Armidale Hospital in a serious condition for treatment of head injuries. The man was later transferred to John Hunter Hospital for specialist assessment.

The driver of the road train – a man also in his 60s – was subjected to a roadside breath test which returned a negative result.

An investigation into the crash commenced and remains ongoing.

Yesterday evening (Monday 10 August 2026) police were notified the 67-year-old man passed away in hospital.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
