Man Dies After Nine Vehicle Crash - Lakemba

A man has died following a muti-vehicle crash in Sydney's south-west this morning.

About 11.40am today (Tuesday 12 May 2026), emergency services were called to Canterbury Road, Lakemba, following a reports of a two vehicle crash.

Officers attached to Campsie Police Area Command attended and found two vehicles had collided nose to tail, trapping the drivers.

A short distance away, police found another seven vehicles had collided, with multiple people trapped, and believe both crashes are linked.

A male driver died at the scene, and he is yet to be formally identified.

The other drivers were freed and assessed by NSW Ambulance paramedics, with multiple drivers taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

A crime scene has been established and investigations commenced into the circumstances of the crash.

Canterbury Road is closed in both directions between Chapel Street and Haldon Street, at Lakemba. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternate routes.
