Man dies in hospital after Derby collision

A man has died in hospital following a collision in Derby last month.

The collision occurred on the east side of the Calder Highway, between Bridgewater and Marong, about 6pm on Tuesday, 30 November.

It's alleged a small orange truck crashed into the rear of a green Jeep SUV that was parked on the side of the freeway.

The driver and sole occupant of the Jeep, a 44-year-old Queensland man, sustained life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to a Melbourne hospital.

He sadly died on Saturday, 11 December.

The driver of the orange truck, a 25-year-old Melton West man, has this week been charged with dangerous driving causing death, drive in a manner dangerous, careless driving and fail to drive within marked lane.

He was bailed to appear before Bendigo Magistrates' Court on 13 April 2022.
