Man dies in workplace accident near Wollongong

A man has died following a workplace accident at an industrial site south of Wollongong.

Emergency services were called to the steelworks at Port Kembla shortly after 2pm today (Wednesday 6 May 2020), following reports a man was trapped between a vehicle and machinery.

Despite the efforts of emergency services, the man died.

Officers from Wollongong Police District attended and commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The body, which has not yet been formally identified, is believed to be that of a 59-year-old man.

A report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.
