Man dies, woman critical after crash west of Albury

A man has died and a woman is in a critical condition after a crash in the state's Riverina region today.

About 9.30am (Thursday 21 April 2022), emergency services were called to the Riverina Highway near Bull Plain Road, Rennie, about 100km north-west of Albury, after a Toyota Landcruiser towing a caravan and a white Mitsubishi ASX collided.

Three people were trapped in the Mitsubishi with the male driver dying at the scene.

A female passenger, seated in the rear, was airlifted to Canberra Hospital in a critical condition. Her injuries are considered life-threatening.

A man, travelling in the front-passenger seat, was taken by road to Albury Hospital.

The male driver and female passenger of the Landcruiser were not injured. They are assisting police with inquiries.

A crime scene has been established and will be examined by officers attached to Murray River Police District.

The Riverina Highway and Bull Plain Road are closed with traffic diversions in place. Please monitor www.livetraffic.com for updates.
