Westgate Highway Patrol officers are investigating a crash in Yarraville last night where the driver is lucky to have survived.
It's believed a 2018 black Ford Mustang was travelling south west on Geelong Road about 5.50pm.
Just as the car was passing Footscray General Cemetery it's believed the driver has lost control, hitting a give way sign before crashing into a tree.
The male driver was ejected from the car and the Mustang burst into flames.
The 26-year-old Point Cook man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and will be spoken to by police at a later date.
Police are investigating whether speed was a factor in the crash.
The investigation remains ongoing, any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
