Man extradited from Victoria for outstanding warrant in Eastern Suburbs

Police have extradited a man from interstate who was wanted by virtue of an outstanding warrant for offences that are alleged to have occurred in Sydney’s east in 2009, NSW Police say.

The 31-year-old man was wanted in relation to an outstanding conviction warrant for numerous offences, including assault police officer occasioning actual bodily harm (x 4), resist police officer (x 2) and offensive conduct.

The offences are alleged to have occurred at Rose Bay on New Years Eve in 2009.

The man, an Irish national who allegedly overstayed his visa was arrested when he presented at the Department of Home Affairs – Immigration, in Melbourne on Monday 15 January 2018.

The man was arrested by Victoria Police and his extradition was granted by the Melbourne Magistrates Court.

Officers from Orana Mid Western Police District attended and flew with the man to Sydney.

In Sydney the man was charged today (Wednesday 17 January 2018) at the Sydney Police Centre with the outstanding warrants.

He has been refused bail to appear at Central Local Court today (Wednesday 17 January 2018).
