Man extradited to NSW on historical sexual abuse charge - Eastern Suburbs PAC

Detectives from Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command travelled to Victoria yesterday (Wednesday 16 October 2019) where they sought the extradition of a man wanted on a NSW arrest warrant.

The arrest warrant relates to a charge of sexual assault (Cat 4) – assault and act of indecency, from an offence that occurred in Bondi in the 1980s.

The 51-year-old man was arrested by officers from Ararat Criminal Investigation Unit (Victorian Police), after leaving a correctional facility in Ararat.

He was taken to Ballarat Local Court where he was met by detectives from Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command where the application for extradition to NSW was granted.

He was then escorted back to NSW where he was placed into custody at Mascot Police Station about 6.45pm (Wednesday 16 October 2019).

The arrest warrant was executed, and he was refused bail. He will appear in Central Local Court today (Thursday 17 October 2019).
