Man in court over firearm offences at Tahmoor

A man will face court today charged after firearm parts and weapons were seized from a home in Sydney's south-west.

In October 2021, officers from South West Metropolitan Region established Strike Force Hawk to target and disrupt organised criminal networks operating in Sydney.

As part of their inquiries, just after 9am yesterday (Wednesday 28 June 2023), officers from Camden Police Area Command attended a home in Hilton Park Road, Tahmoor, to conduct a Firearm Prohibition Order (FPO) compliance search.

During a search of the property, investigators located a slingshot and the barrel to a .22 rifle. These items were seized to undergo forensic examination.

A 54-year-old man was arrested at the home and taken to Narellan Police Station, where he was charged with use prohibited weapon contrary to prohibition order, possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit, possess a barrel for a firearm unless authorised by licence, and firearm etc found at premises-subject to prohibition order.

The man was refused bail to appear at Picton Local Court today (Thursday 29 June 2023).
