A man will appear in court today charged after allegedly sexually assaulting a teenage girl in Sydney's south west more than two years ago.
In May this year, detectives from the State Crime Command's Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad commenced an investigation following reports a teenage girl had been sexually assaulted by a man known to her.
Following extensive inquiries, detectives arrested a 71-year-old man at Liverpool Police Station about 12pm yesterday (Monday 21 December 2020).
He was charged with aggravated sexual intercourse person (aged between 14 and 16).
Police will allege in court that the man sexually assaulted the girl – then aged between 15 and 16 – at a home in Sydney's south west between August and November 2018.
He was refused bail to appear at Liverpool Local Court today (Tuesday 22 December 2020).
The Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad is comprised of detectives who are specially trained to investigate matters against children and adults, including sexual assault, serious physical abuse, and extreme cases of neglect.
