A South Australian man is expected to appear in the Adelaide Magistrate's Court today (11 November) after being charged for unruly behaviour at Adelaide Airport back in September 2022.
AFP officers responded to reports of a man allegedly causing damage to a parent's restroom within the domestic terminal and acting aggressively towards police and members of the public.
The AFP arrested the Onkaparinga man, 45, at the airport on 23 September before escorting him from the building.
The man was bailed to appear in court today charged with:
- Criminal Law Consolidation Act 1935, Section 85 (2)(a) - Damage Property contrary to section 4 of the Commonwealth Places (Application of Laws) Act 1970 (Cth).
- Summary Offences Act (1953) SA, Section 6 (2) - Hinder Police contrary to section 4 of the Commonwealth Places (Application of Laws) Act 1970 (Cth).
Acting Inspector Michael Smith said there is no tolerance for antisocial or dangerous behaviour at our airports.
"The AFP and our aviation partners have no tolerance for antisocial or dangerous behaviour and we will take action if people do not comply with legislation or other lawful requirements.
"This behaviour is not only disrespectful but it can also put other people at risk," he said.
The AFP encourages the public to call Airport Watch on 131 237 if they see or hear something unusual while working or travelling through one of the nation's major airports.
