A 23 year old Launceston man is in custody following an extensive search in the Mayfield area by police.
The man had been wanted in relation to a serious family violence assault that was allegedly committed several days ago.
Earlier this morning, acting on information from the public, a number of uniformed police and Launceston CIB detectives searched the greater Mowbray area for the man.
At 11:00am today, the man was located in bushland behind Mayfield and was taken into custody without incident.
Detective Inspector Craig Fox from Launceston CIB said:
"We would like to thank members of the public for their assistance in helping police to locate this alleged family violence offender."
The man will be interviewed by Launceston CIB detectives and charges are expected to be laid.
