Man injured after attempted carjacking - Croydon Park

A man has been taken to hospital after he was injured during an attempted carjacking at Croydon Park overnight.

About 10.45pm (Friday 16 August 2017), two 21-year-old men were travelling east along Georges River Rd in a VW Golf when they noticed a Toyota Landcruiser stopped stationary at the intersection of Brighton Street, causing them to stop.

The driver of the VW Golf attempted to pass the Landcruiser when a male stepped out in front of his car, approached the driver and punched him to the head several times through the open window.

A second man appeared and began assaulting the driver, attempting to drag him from the car. The passenger of the VW attempted to assist, but he was also assaulted causing him to fall unconscious.

Both men attempted to steal the VW Golf however, occupants of a passing car stopped and assisted.

The attackers were seen leaving the area in a white hatchback.

The injured man was taken to Royal Price Alfred Hospital and remains in a stable condition.

Police attended and a crime scene was established and investigations are continuing.
