A man has been seriously injured during an assault at Aberfoyle Park this morning.
Police and emergency services were called to Sunnymeade Drive, Aberfoyle Park at about 8am on Sunday 24 May, following reports of a disturbance in the street.
On arrival, patrols located a 37-year-old woman from Tonsley nearby who was allegedly in possession of an axe. She was detained by police and taken to hospital for assessment.
Following further enquiries, police attended a nearby home on Kyre Street, Aberfoyle Park at about 8.45am where a 61-year-old man was located with serious injuries. Police will allege the woman assaulted the man with an axe earlier that morning.
The injured man was taken to hospital by ambulance. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
The 37-year-old woman was subsequently arrested and is expected to be charged with serious offences when deemed medically fit.
Southern District detectives and crime scene investigators attended and examined the Kyre Street property.
The investigation is in its early stages, however, police do not believe this was a random incident, as the parties are known to each other.
