A man reported missing from Queensland – who went missing four days ago – has been located safe and well after a multi-agency search near Tweed Heads.

The 66-year-old man was last seen at his Pimpama home about 2:30pm on Wednesday 5 October 2022.

When he could not be located, he was reported missing to the Queensland Police Service (QPS); however, information provided to officers attached to Tweed/Byron Police District indicated that the man may have been in the Doon Doon area – about 40km south-west of Tweed Heads.

A multi-agency search was initiated in the area including local police, Police Rescue, NSW Ambulance paramedics, Rural Fire Service, SES, VRA Rescue NSW, QPS PolAir and Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service.

About 2.15pm today (Sunday 9 October 2022), the man was located safe after having fallen down a gully in an area of dense rainforest in Byrrill Creek.

He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics at the scene for minor injuries and dehydration, before he was airlifted to Lismore Base Hospital as a precaution.

Police would like to thank the community, emergency service volunteers and media for their assistance.
