Man seriously injured after being hit by a car at Greenacre

A man is in hospital in a serious condition after being struck by a car in Greenacre overnight.

Officers from Bankstown Police Area Command have been told a 78-year-old man was struck by a Toyota Starlet as he crossed Waterloo Road, 30m north of Greenacre Road, about 6:10pm (Saturday 11 May 2019).

The injured man was treated at the scene for a suspected fractured pelvis and head injuries before being taken to Liverpool Hospital, where he is reported to be in a serious but stable condition.

The driver of the Starlet, a 49-year-old man from Bankstown, was taken to Bankstown Hospital for mandatory testing.

It's believed the older man was not on a marked pedestrian crossing at the time he was hit.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact Bankstown Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence.
