Man suffers serious burns in unit fire - Kirrawee

A man has been taken to hospital suffering serious burns after a fire broke out in a unit at Kirrawee overnight.

Emergency services were called to a unit complex on Moona Road after reports of a fire.

On arrival officers found a unit well alight. The four occupants managed to escape, however, a man, aged 55, suffered significant burns and was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

Two women, aged 51 and 23, and a man aged 25, were all taken to St George Hospital suffering smoke inhalation.

The fire was extinguished, and a crime scene has now been established by detectives from Sutherland Shire Police Area Command as they investigate the cause of the fire.
