Man with sword in CBD, South Australia

A man has been arrested after threatening people with a samurai sword in the Adelaide CBD this morning.

Just after 12.30am Friday 5 February police were called to Rundle Street after reports a man was wielding a Samurai sword threatening members of the public and passing vehicles.

Hindley Street patrols quickly responded with one officer tackling the man to the ground and placing under arrest. There were no injuries to public, police or the suspect.

The 25-year-old Far North man has been charged with aggravated assault, carrying an offensive weapon and unlawful possession. He is expected to be refused bail and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court today.
